At Travelscope, we are aware of our responsibilities to the environment and to sustainability, both home and abroad.
Our new purpose built offices were designed with the latest initiatives in energy conservation very much in mind. The company and its print and logistics supplier only uses paper suppliers with a replacement tree-planting programme in place. We encourage our customers to receive brochures electronically, further reducing the resources used up by printing. We are also actively pursuing local initiatives with the Woodland Trust.
Travelscope has been active in encouraging the use of local ports and airports thus reducing the need for passengers to drive long distances before embarking on their vacation. Where a point of departure is not local, Travelscope provides free coach transfers from local pick-up points, usually early morning collections, thereby traveling on less crowded roads and reducing the need for hundreds of cars to travel to and from ports and airports.
Travelscope is pragmatic in acknowledging that the car affords mobility for millions, but in providing free coach connections the company is keen to reduce the impact of the motor car on UK roads whenever it can.
Whether it is the spectacular Fjords of Norway, the unique gardens of the British Isles, or the splendour of the North Cape and Greenland, Travelscope has researched the regions in great detail and assess the most sensitive way in which to provide our customers with the opportunity to experience these great sights with minimum environmental impact.
Travelscope’s deliberate policy of using smaller cruise vessels means that its ships can access small ports and harbours reducing the length of coaching excursions as well as enabling passengers to explore ports of call on foot or via local public transport.
Similarly, we encourage our overseas suppliers to use best practice to conserve natural resources and minimise pollution. Our escorted tours are operated in a way that is respectful of the local culture, and its traditions, religions and heritage.
From this winter, we will be encouraging our travelling customers to contribute to a ‘carbon balancing’ programme, i.e. to offset the carbon emitted in their travel.
